Another 95 Better Roads prepared and repaired in West Sussex

Ninety-five rural and residential roads in West Sussex were repaired in July thanks to the County Council’s Better Roads Programme.

The two year scheme – launched in April – will see £30m invested in rural and residential roads over the next two years.

So far since the Better Roads Programme started:

  • 271 sites across West Sussex have been repaired, the equivalent of 49% of the entire programme;
  • Nearly £7.2m of the £30m budget has been spent;
  • 369,761 square metres of road surface has been repaired; and
  • Almost 100% of material removed during the work has been recycled.

County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Pieter Montyn, said: “We are making satisfying progress, month by month, with the Better Roads Programme.

“We are doing everything we can to make our roads safe for residents and return them to the standards of a few years ago.”
