Following the success of the first personal development programme for Year 12 students from Skinners Kent Academy last year, the Assembly Hall Theatre has once again partnered with AXA PPP healthcare to run a second performance coaching course on 14 July 2016. Students will take part in a practical day of active learning – entitled Stage for Life – designed to equip 16 and 17 year olds with key attributes to enhance their employability and life skills.

We are proud to be supporting this event in partnership with the Assembly Hall to offer local students a fantastic opportunity to develop key employability skills”.
Led once again by Arts Engagement and Communication Consultant Jennifer Fordham and Kate Waugh, an experienced educator, students from St Richards Catholic College (Bexhill, East Sussex), Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys and Beacon Academy will receive individual coaching over the course of the day, culminating in them giving short presentations on the Assembly Hall stage at the end of the day.
Coaching takes place in small groups and one-to-one sessions using peer to-peer and professional feedback to maximise progress. The emphasis will be on building students’ confidence to help them build their communication capabilities and equip them with the skills they need to attain the best job opportunities in the future. They will leave the day with practical and memorable techniques that are designed to give them confidence and get noticed in interviews, on assessment days, in further education or in the workplace. The course will run with 10 students to allow participants to get the most from the day.
Jennifer Fordham says: “The 14-19 Personal, Social and Health Education PSHE curriculum emphasises the importance of work-related learning, yet schools often only have a finite amount of time to devote to these skills. This training event aims to redress that by helping participants practice employability and team-working skills, as well as developing flexibility and resilience.”
The Assembly Hall Theatre is a unique venue that amplifies the effectiveness of performance coaching. Sessions will take place on and around the main stage. For students this presents a somewhat daunting environment, exciting yet a perfect setting for an individual to develop their confidence and hone their projection skills.
