Council Sports Coach Wins Community Award

The 1066 Community Awards took place last week in Hastings at St Mary in the Castle to recognise the unsung community heroes of 1066 Country.

“Our congratulations must go to Eugenie Demeza the council’s Active Hastings Operations Coordinator for winning Best Coach. We are really pleased to see a member of staff recognised for her tireless commitment to the work she does for the good of residents and visitors to our town” said Cllr Dawn Poole, the council’s lead member for leisure.

“Unfortunately Eugenie couldn’t attend the awards ceremony as she was busy coaching but her mum received the award on her behalf. Well done Eugenie!” added Cllr Poole.

Active Hastings works with local providers of physical activity to give easy, fun ways to get physically active. Activities are on offer for all ages and abilities from walks in the park to acrobatics and netball to tai chi.
