Eastbourne RNLI – 20 hours at sea, 7 Rescues

Both Eastbourne lifeboats, in addition to being on duty providing safety cover at Airbourne, were called out 7 times over the weekend

Both Eastbourne lifeboats, along with the RNLI capsize training craft; all manned by the volunteer crew were afloat for the duration of Eastbourne Airbourne weekend providing both safety cover and general assistance. They also took part in a demonstration with the RAF Sea King helicopter 125 where some of our volunteers were plucked from the sea. As usual, in addition to these duties, the lifeboats were called upon to assist with a total of seven emergencies involving various incidents whilst the general public were blissfully enjoying the display.

The rescues, if rescues at sea can be described thus, were routine for the crew which included engine failures, various mechanical failures, stuck anchors and a search for a missing person.
