Aging is something none of us can avoid! Despite the best healthcare available and the most stringent of eating and exercise plans we all find ourselves bemoaning the inevitable wrinkles and lines as we get older.  Other factors that also play a part include our exposure to the sun, our genes and lifestyle choices such as smoking.

Fortunately these days with the advances in cosmetic surgery techniques there are many things that can be done to improve the situation for men and women to give them back a more youthful image, better suited to their personality and lifestyle.

Botox can be extremely helpful in some cases for smoothing out furrows in the forehead and decreasing our frown lines that appear along the brow or around the eyes. It is however a temporary solution and will need to be routinely applied if the required look is to be maintained. Therefore ladies who want to achieve the same look, on a more permanent scale could opt for a Brow Lift. In this procedure the brow is lifted and tightened, leaving you with a smoother forehead. It can be exceptionally rejuvenating and gives you a more youthful and fresh look.

A face lift or Rhytidectomy, can help to tighten and refresh the skin around the face and neck, pulling wrinkles out and smoothing over any deep grooves. As you age the skin loses its elasticity and this procedure can be very effective in restoring a more youthful look. Scarring will always occur with any surgical procedure but the incisions are placed around and behind the ears and will be minimised as much as possible to give a fresh and smooth new look. Alternatively if you are simply unhappy with your cheeks and jowls, a mini facelift could help and is less intrusive surgically than the full face lift. Your surgeon will help you decide which procedure will give you the best result for your specific problem.

Sometimes mature ladies can suffer with drooping eyelids, where excess skin collects around the eyes and makes them look hooded and tired. Our eyes are one of our best features and it can make a huge difference when they are fresh and alert. Eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty, can be performed under local or general anaesthetic, which you can discuss with your surgeon, and the result can make you look younger and fresher. Excess skin is taken from the crease in the upper eyelid and just below the lash line on the lower eyelid and then sewn together with very fine stitching.
