And In My Mind
by Gregory Gower
I know what I should have said and done,
set my tasks at each rising of the sun.
Good intentions have been none to zero,
no one rushes forward to be my hero.
To save my blushes from what I’ve said,
and every night I come to dread.
Of all the things I said I would do,
for you are right, I ignored you!
You! The friend, I should have saved,
you! The friend, I should have raved.
You! The friend, I should have been,
to listen, to say, a face, most seen.
Now a distant memory in every way,
hoping to recall my thoughts another day.
To do the things I said I would,
and in my mind, it says I should!
