George Davies launches FG4 at local Worthing Schools

George is the style visionary who founded Next womenswear in 1982, followed by Menswear, Childrenswear and Homewear. In February 1991, he created George at Asda which is the biggest selling clothing brand in the world.

Per una was his highly successful womenswear fashion brand, which he launched exclusively in Marks & Spencer in September 2001 and for which he is credited with the turnaround of their fortunes. These brands account for over 12% of the current High Street and a staggering $87 billion contribution to the Clothing Retail Market. George understands the needs of his customers. This has enabled him to create innovative lifestyle brands that are different to any other brands.

This year sees the launch of his latest brand, FG4, into the UK market. In his trademark style the launches will be unique with schools having the opportunity to be involved in hosting their own exclusive fashion show event.

This June FG4 are hosting community catwalk shows at four schools in the Worthing area, starting with Vale School on 9th June, West Park CE First & Middle School on the 10th June, Durrington High School on the 17th June and finally The Angmering School on the 18th June. FG4 are giving the local area a unique opportunity to be one of the first to preview and purchase from the fabulous new collections and also raise money for the schools in the process.

Proceeds from the ticket sales are given back to the school and FG4 will work closely with each school to ensure maximum ticket sales. Each school is asked to find models for the catwalk show with pupils, teachers and parents invited to take part. On the night local hair and make-up artists from Northbrook College, Rachels and Sarah Ambrose will be on hand to make-over each of the models before they strut down the catwalk in front of a live audience.

Speaking to George today, I asked him Why have you chosen to launch the brand in this way? “Schools need money” and after the success of School events in Broadway, Worcestshire,  “Durrington made contact, then more schools got in-touch to make a community event across four schools in the area”.

Is FG4 a kidswear brand plus womenwear or a womenswear brand plus kidswear?  “The brands are very different and our shops (in Far East) are separate too”. Do you think it’s important for Mums to be stylish? “if a women is stylish at 18 she’ll want to be at 80 too”  and everywhere in between whatever their situation. What about menswear? “I’ve not been involved in Menswear for a while but men are different, they can be stylish upto about 30 then they start to dress like their Dads”.

Also on the evening, FG4 will be providing a photobooth and props for everyone to enjoy whilst a pop-up store will give everyone the opportunity to purchase from the FG4 collection with a 20% discount. Each model will be given an exclusive t-shirt as a show of appreciation.
