The NCT (also known as the National Childbirth Trust) is UK's leading charity for parents. Every year we support thousands of people through the incredible life changing experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
Becoming a parent is a life-enhancing experience, but it can also be challenging and sometimes stressful. We are here to help you through this transition, offering relevant information, reassurance and mutual support.
We work to fulfil our mission and vision of enabling all parents in the UK to have an enriching experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Our purpose is to provide support and evidence-based information in pregnancy, birth and early days of parenthood. We want all parents to feel confident about their maternity care. We campaign to improve the services and facilities for new parents, and provide essential services and information to give them a chance to make informed choices.
Two local NCT branches (Crawley and Horley, Redhill & Reigare) are hosting a Pregnancy and Baby Show on 24th April at Oakwood School and Sports Centre.
The Show is being held in 3 halls at the school, we have 2 exhibition halls where over 40 companies and representatives from the local hospitals, and family support charities will be on hand to talk to expectant and new parents.
In addition Volunteers from St John’s ambulance are also in that area and will be happy to demonstrate key lifesaving techniques such as resuscitation and what to do if you child / baby is choking. They will also have information about other classes they have on offer.
The Oakwood School main hall is where you will find different speakers talking about a range of topics every 30 minutes throughout the day from 1030 to 4pm (see the end of this information for the full details).
Whilst outside we have the Fire Brigade on hand to tour their appliance and talk about their free home safety checks and Two of Halfords car seat fitters are on hand to verify that your car seat is positioned correctly. They are also on hand to answer any questions you may have about moving on to the next car seat size etc…(Please note that they are only able to check car seats that are in the Halfords range as the training received is specific to makes and models of seats and will differ across other brands.)
The baby changing area provides complementary nappies and wipes provided by Sainsbury’s Little Ones Club.
The school has ample parking outside and is conveniently located on the Balcombe Road and is less than a 10 minute walk from Horley Train Station.
