Nationwide raise over £1000 for Community Transport charity

On Thursday 27th July, Nationwide Branch Managers Tyrene Simmons and Samantha Dartnall welcomed members of 11 Nationwide branches plus staff and volunteers from CTLA Community Transport to a charity FootGolf event at the Mid Sussex Golf Course in Ditchling.

50 people attended, including District Manager Jon Casper who said; “The evening was great fun and it was great to see all the staff raise money for such a wonderful cause.”

The winners of the footgolf were Mike Belli, Tom Barsdell, Philip Brewster and Aaron Yeomans (pictured). A raffle was also held with prizes donated from local business’s including the Treatment Rooms Brighton, Profiles of Hassocks, Sainsburys Newhaven, Co-op Peacehaven, Elephant and Castle Lewes, Powder Beauty Room Brighton, Well Chemist Peacehaven and Aqua restaurant Lewes.

Samantha Dartnall, Branch Manager at Nationwide’s Peacehaven branch commented: “We had many suggestions but the CTLA Community Transport charity was chosen to benefit from our 2017 charity events, as they are just such a fantastic cause. All of my team have volunteered, going out on the community buses and we are looking forward to making a real difference”.

Together with proceeds from cake sales in the Peacehaven branch and matched funding from Nationwide, the fundraising has already topped £1,000 which will go towards ending isolation, loneliness and community exclusion that people unable to use public transport suffer.

The branch staff will assist at many further fundraising events including a fashion show and a Santa bus during the festive period.

Since 2012, Nationwide Building Society has donated more than £15 million to thousands of causes across the UK and actively encourage their staff to help strengthen and make a real difference to the communities around them.
