DoDo Fish and Chips backs Brighton Housing Trust

A Brighton fish and chip shop has become the latest official supporter of a local homelessness charity.
DoDo Fish and Chips, based near Seven Dials, has committed ongoing support to the work of Brighton Housing Trust (BHT) by becoming a ‘Friend of BHT’.
After a drawn out battle to become the first Fish and Chip shop to operate in Seven Dials for around a decade, proprietor Kovi Venkama pledged to repay the support he’d received from the local community.
Kovi said: “We have not forgotten the support we had from the local residents who signed the petition for our planning application.
“Since then, we’ve made a promise that DoDo Fish and Chips will support the community in whatever way we can.”
BHT spokeswomen Jo Berry said: “We’re delighted that DoDo Fish and Chips has become a Friend of BHT. The shop provided our day centre, First Base, with fish and chips for its residents just before Christmas and it’s fantastic that they’ve decided to continue their support.
“We rely on new sources of fundraising to support the important work we do. The ‘Friends of BHT’ scheme is a unique way of fundraising because it allows each business to benefit from supporting us.
“Corporate social responsibility has become an essential part of any business and more and more consumers are looking for ethically minded companies that they feel they can trust. Not only will participating businesses be recognised for supporting BHT, they will receive a promotion pack from us that will help to move their business forward.”
BHT offers advice, accommodation and support to vulnerable men and women in Brighton and Hove, Eastbourne and Hastings who may have experienced homelessness, financial and housing insecurity or problems with drugs or alcohol.
