Mid Sussex residents have the chance to find out about the latest renewable technologies and insulation methods at a free Home Energy Fair on Sunday 17 October.
The Home Energy Fair has been organised by the Parish Futures Group, with support from West Hoathly Parish Council and the Mid Sussex Sustainability Partnership. The event will be held at West Hoathly Church of England Primary School between 10am and 2pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk to experts about available grants and tariffs, gain a greater understanding of how to reduce their every day energy use and by doing so save money and reduce their carbon footprint. There is even some fun to be had and prizes to be won with the ‘guess the energy generation’ competition.
Sixteen local homes, where many of the latest energy saving approaches are already in place, have kindly agreed to participate in an “Open Circuit” event. Visitors will be invited into energy efficient homes to see what has been done and hear about how it has worked in practice. A guide and map of the properties will be available at the fair.
“Mid Sussex District Council is proud to be part of the Mid Sussex Sustainability Partnership and the drive to make Mid Sussex as energy efficient as possible,” said Councillor Pru Moore, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Sustainability. “By sharing knowledge and working together to find local solutions, we can develop a way of life that protects and enhances the natural environment.”
“This latest Energy Fair is packed with useful information about renewable energy, reducing your carbon footprint and ways to conserve the energy we use,” said Cllr John Downe, Member for West Hoathly Parish Council. “Why not come along and find out how you can make a difference and save some money.”
