Think Pink for a Night of Classic Rock

This extraordinary band, regarded as the UK’s number one Pink Floyd tribute, are renowned for their stunning celebration of one of the world’s greatest musical icons. Now in their 20th year, the incredibly talented musicians who make up the Think Floyd show have managed to faithfully recreate all the atmosphere, visual magnitude and musical excellence of Pink Floyd live on stage. It’s no wonder they have long been regarded as The UK’s finest tribute to Pink Floyd.

Think Floyd’s members consist of four extraordinary musicians who, in this production, feature music from the whole range of classic Pink Floyd including Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Animals, Wish You Were Here, Meddle, The Division Bell and more, complete with am impressive laser light show.

The band started out playing covers in London in the early 1990s. At a regular Saturday night gig in a pub in South East London, someone asked if they played Comfortably Numb, they didn’t, but said they would learn it for the next week. Their performance of Pink Floyd’s anthemic track went down a storm and became a regular encore. As time went on, the band got more and more requests for Floyd tracks and one week, decided to dedicate a whole evening to Pink Floyd’s music, and quite jokingly called it ‘Think Floyd’.

The Think Floyd show became a regular event, attracting hundreds of people to the small venue. In the audience one night was Theatre Promoter and Floyd Fan David Walker, who quickly turned the semi-pro pub band into a fully professional touring production. So in 1994 Think Floyd was born, the band consisted of Tony Red, Peter Mizen, Paul Whisker and Brian Duel. The band’s line up has slowly evolved over the years and the line up today features Lewis Hall on Bass, Richard Morse on Guitar, Steven Farmer on Drums and Kirk McLeod on Keyboards.

As the band has developed musically, they have taken on fresh challenges and featured the complete albums Dark Side of The Moon and Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd’s 1972 film Live at Pompeii, plus iconic tracks including Dogs, Echoes and Atom Heart Mother. For their 2002-3 tour, Think Floyd’s ‘Through The Wall’ show included most of the double album and featured local schoolchildren to bring to life tracks including Another Brick In the Wall, Goodbye Blue Sky and The Trial. Think Floyd also helped set up the internationally renowned Rhodes Rock Festival – an annual event taking place on the Greek Island of Rhodes.

A typical Think Floyd show will include all the well known classics from The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Division Bell as well as often including some lesser-known tracks from albums including Ummagumma and Obscured by Clouds.
