United Opinion…

So something called “Article 50” was “triggered” today. Now I’m going to hold my hands up and tell you I don’t fully understand any of it. I do understand that we, as a country have taken ourselves out of Europe (and I know that’s not geographically speaking). I did vote in the referendum, it is possibly the most political thing I have ever done. I tend not to speak about my political views, mainly because I’m sorry to say I don’t have enough knowledge to form very strong opinions, and I find that giving ones opinion very often can result in contention.

What I would like to talk about is the terrific amount of rage I have seen on the odd snippet of daytime television, and news programmes that I have watched. People tend to feel very strongly about both the stay in and stay out of Europe. Now forgive me if I’m wrong but those who voted to “stay” have lost, and those who voted “out” have won. These are very simplistic terms, but this is how it is. My question is, do we really have to witness so much anger? One daytime show resulted in a panelist being “told off” during the break for stating that another panelist’s views were “rubbish”. Now the last time I looked we are all adults. But to say they’re acting like children would be insulting children.

I have now come to the conclusion that the reason I tend not to follow politics more, is that it involves watching grown adults behaving in a detestable manner.

So to all the politicians out there, I’m not interested in your petty squabbles, I want to hear facts, debates and to be educated better on these important matters. Wouldn’t it be good if it could all be done with manners and less animosity? Peace Out!
