World Sight Day events in West Sussex libraries

Events are being held in West Sussex libraries as part of World Sight Day on Thursday October 8.

West Sussex County Council has a countywide team of ‘ROVIs’ (Rehabilitation Officers for the Visually Impaired) to help residents who have significant visual impairment.

The ROVIs team is holding events from 10am to 4pm on World Sight Day at:
• Bognor Library
• Worthing Library
• Horsham Library
• East Grinstead Library

The teams will have information stands and be able to offer advice and support about living with sight loss.

Peter Catchpole, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Adults Social Care and Health, said: “The aim of the ROVIs team is to help people with significant visual impairment with practical advice and support.

“The team will assess how someone is managing now and if there are things that can be done to improve their independence. This could be through trying things out in a different way, or with equipment which could help.”

The events coincide with West Sussex Care Month, from West Sussex County Council, which aims to raise awareness about care and support available in the county and help people stay independent for longer.
