Newcomers Norway charge to victory at Arundel Castle

The longest contest of its kind in the world, this year’s event attracted jousting talent from as far afield as Australia, and also welcomed the first female competitor, Marie Baron, to Arundel Castle.

In a shock result, reigning champions the Kingdom of England failed to make the final, with newcomers the Kingdom of Norway defeating the Kingdom of Poland to secure victory on their debut.

Knights Per Estein Prøis-Røhjell and Ivar Mauritz-Hansen are pictured posing with the winners’ rings, as awarded by Angela Standing, Deputy Mayor of Arundel. Per also took the individual jousting title this year, showing that Norway’s victory was not a case of beginner’s luck.
