There are so many grievances in Eastbourne and the surrounding District, one doesn’t know where to start: Lord Sainsbury wants to place as many shops and stores as possible with his inexhaustible purse of everybody else’s money.
The Water Company seem to think that because people phone up to inform them that there is a leak in the road, footpath or whatever, they treat it as a hoax call and do not attend until someone is drowning in a six foot deep puddle. They send round a team of experts at the (ultimately) customers expense to see if it warrants any danger to the public, more added expense. Now you can see why Water is such a expensive commodity because the people who are in control have not got the sense to deal with leaks as and when they are reported, and then you get a spokesperson from the Water Company who appears on television and waffles about money and the lack of it to repair water leaks, and you wonder where your money is going to!
The Council are changing the street lighting so that it resembles a dimming switch on a permanent setting, the Burglar’s friend. Eastbourne could easily be renamed as “ THE TITANIC”. Everybody is leaving as shown by the number of empty shops there are and it is no good the Council waffling on about having a new ARNDALE CENTRE which will change EASTBOURNE for better times. Unless of course the shops and stores are going to be rent free.
Maybe I’m a bit old fashioned and a Lighthouse that celebrates 111 years of being just a historic monument and defunct having a paint job that cost thousands of pounds when there are so many people without homes and living on the streets and why, you ask, because the Water, Gas, Electricity and Councils keep putting up their prices and as far as I can see little or no difference to the services they offer. Don’t get me wrong, the services are there, if you pay that little bit extra – or are they?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL are still dragging their feet with regard to mending our roads in Eastbourne – if they had the sense to maintain the roads every year, the problem we have would not exist. While we are on ESCC case, the Taxi Cabs are having a difficult time with insufficient space in Eastbourne to wait for potential customers and where they do have to wait upsets the residents of nearby houses.
Now, EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL have placed in and around Eastbourne, allotted areas for new bus stops in roads where one would think twice about putting them and especially down South Street and Lushington Road. There is hardly enough room for ordinary sized vehicles down these roads, let alone BUSES.
I can remember being chased down Lushington Road by a bus that wasn’t going to stop for anyone, even though I wanted to park there. So going round again was my only option which nearly made me late for my appointment with the Chiropractor. I think someone was right when they stated that ESCC had buried their heads in the sand, but then again, on every service you can think of, they’ve always had their heads buried in the sand!
How do the Conservatives think they are going to get voted as top team to rule as our Government if they refuse pay rises, especially to Doctors, Nurses and Auxiliary Nurses in hospitals? Obviously they like shooting themselves in the foot, which they have done so many times before. It’s all very well having your photograph in the newspaper congratulating someone of their achievement when as a Conservative Member of Parliament who does nothing to honour the people he is supposed to be serving as and when problems arise to be solved and are totally ignored.
For Heaven sake don’t become desperately ill in August as the TRUST that are governing EASTBOURNE DISTRICT GENERAL HOSPITAL finances had a shortfall in that month and operations and minor surgery operations might have been abandoned until September. Of course the operations for September would have to wait until October, while the operations for August caught up and so on.
We have one report stating that finances at EDGH are alright and another statement from another source stating they are not. It makes one think, how can I possibly place my life in the hands of a hospital when so many operations have been postponed due to lack of finances. The best bet is to sack the TRUST who obviously haven’t a clue on how to run a hospital.
Watching television is no joy these days, you get countless repeats and television advertising that are beginning to get longer and longer in duration and I am always thankful for the Television manufacturers of placing a “MUTE” button amongst their many controls and also the “FAST FORWARD” arrow that one can press on recorded programmes. Another company keeps telephoning me stating that my SKY insurance is about to end and we can reduce your monthly instalment from £10 odd to £5 odd. When I inform that that I pay a lump sum for everything – there’s a click of the phone going down at the end of the line. I am just wondering now, has somebody invaded my Bank Account that I don’t know about and should I reconsider by coming off Sky and going Freeview.
