“Grown-ups are quirky creatures, full of quirks and secrets.”
This half term head down to The White Rock Theatre in Hastings to see Roald Dahl’s classic tale, Danny the Champion of the World, live on stage in a show that has been adapted by David Wood and directed by Lotte Wakeham.
The London Contemporary Theatre production follows the journey of a young English boy, Danny, and his father William – the most exciting Dad a boy has ever had. The pair live in a caravan fixing cars for a living. His Dad has a secret hobby though of partaking in poaching pheasants.
By no means just for kids, this is a warm and winning piece of theatre which proves that productions aimed at children, like this one which is suitable for those aged 5 and over, can be every bit as intelligent and relevant as those aimed at an adult audience.
Danny the Champion of the World appears at The White Rock Theatre, Hastings on Sunday 24th and Mon 25th May with performances on Sunday at 5.00pm and on Monday at 10.30am and 1.30pm. For tickets and information call the box office on 01424 462288 or book online at www.whiterocktheatre.org.uk
