Congratulations as GCSE results arrive

West Sussex County Council has congratulated its young people in schools across the county who have been receiving GCSE results today (Thursday, August 21).

Based on the provisional results received from schools it seems likely that the overall performance for the county has improved from last year with over a third of schools having improved.

As has been reported nationally the results for schools this year have been very volatile. The variations are likely to be the result of changes to GCSE examinations and particularly to English.

West Sussex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Jeremy Hunt (pictured), said: “I would like to congratulate West Sussex pupils, as well as their teachers, who have all worked so hard to achieve these results.”
