At a meeting of the Full Council on 16 March 2016, Arun District Councillors voted to appoint Cllr Mrs Jacky Pendleton as Vice Chairman for the civic year 2016/2017. Following a year as Vice Chairman, Cllr Pendleton will then become Chairman Elect.
Cllr Mrs Pendleton was first elected to the District Council on 5 May 2011 representing River Ward and was then re-elected on 7 May 2015, Bersted Ward. During her time as a district councillor, Cllr Mrs Pendleton has served, and currently serves on the Development Control Committee, Licensing & Enforcement Committee, as a substitute Member for the Development Control Site Inspection Panel, Housing Appeals Panel, Housing & Customer Services Working Group (for Municipal Year 2015/16 as Vice-Chairman), and as Chairman (for 2015/16 Municipal Year) of the Community Infrastructure Levy [CIL] Sub –Committee.
Cllr Mrs Pendleton said “I am honoured to have been elected as Vice Chairman of Arun District Council, a very important support role for the Chairman. I am also of course honoured to be ‘waiting in the wings’ to become Chairman in May 2017.My background in both business and public service has prepared me to undertake both roles and in particular experience gained in chairing meetings, and other forums, and taking part in local government for a number of years, should stand me in good stead to ensure that our Council Meetings will be managed in a fair but firm way, ensuring we deliver the very best service we can for Arun residents. I feel confident that I can help enhance the profile of Arun District Council within our community and further afield.
