Opinions are being sought in Worthing on whether introducing a 20mph speed limit for residential streets in the town should be investigated further.
West Sussex County Council is gauging the views of residents and business in the town.
A letter is being posted to households and business in Worthing, asking them to tick ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
This is the first stage of a public consultation about the issue.
The responses, accepted by postal return only, will help the Worthing County Local Committee decide if it should take the consultation to a second formal stage.
The deadline for postal responses is Thursday, July 31.
Worthing County Local Committee Chairman Paul High said: “We need as many people in Worthing to respond to these letters as we can get.
“We must decide if more time and money should be committed towards investigating a 20mph limit in greater detail.
“The greater the number of responses, the more informed we will be as a committee when we make the decision.”
A public meeting to debate the issue is being staged between 6pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday, May 27 at Worthing Library Lecture Theatre, Richmond Road, Town Centre, Worthing, BN11 1HD.
This event will be ticket only.
Tickets will be available at Worthing Library reception from Tuesday, May 6 and limited to two per person.
