Chestnut Tree House set for overseas challenge event

Chestnut’s China Challenge will take an exclusive team of participants across the other side of the world for a cultural and once in a lifetime experience walking the Great Wall.

Now open for registration, the nine day trek from 10-18 October 2015 will take in the mysteries of the legendary ancient wonder, and explore the treasures of Beijing with its Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and the famous Tiananmen Square.

What’s more, the trek will take fundraisers along the Badaling Old Wall section where participants can cement their place in history by helping to reconstruct a section of the Great Wall.

The total trekking distance is around 35km and the trip promises amazing scenery, great team spirit, new friendships and a personal achievement that is cited in many bucket lists.

Trip highlights include:

  • Return flights from London to Beijing, transfers, accommodation and all meals
  • Exploring the hidden treasures of Beijing
  • Trekking along a man-made wonder of the world
  • Visiting the remote sections of the Wall and seeing the beautiful vistas of the Wall disappearing over the mountains
  • Helping to repair a section of the Great Wall of China
  • Climbing the awesome 1,000 steps from the foot of the Great Wall to the top of the mountain, culminating with the ‘Heavenly Ladder’
  • Farewell presentation evening to celebrate your achievement of completing Chestnut’s China Challenge

Kerry O’Neill, Event Organiser for Chestnut Tree House said: “We are delighted to announce our first overseas challenge for Chestnut Tree House and what better place to choose than a modern wonder of the world which can be seen from the moon, so it’s an important and exciting landmark for us.

“Our team of Chestnut China Challengers will not only trek the Great Wall of China but between them will raise enough money to cover all the hospice’s care costs for the entire duration of the trip.  “This trek has been designed to be challenging but is achievable by anyone as long as you train beforehand.  To kick start your training and fundraising, we will help you by providing you with tips and training weekends to help you on your way.

If you are interested in joining our team of Chestnut China Challengers then there is no better time to get in touch as places are limited.

“Every day at Chestnut Tree House is unique and every day something wonderful and special happens. The days you are in China walking the Great Wall could also be the most precious days for a child and their family.”
