County Council asks for patience and help during vital roadside surveys

West Sussex County Council is urging people to be patient when vital roadside interview surveys – aided by Sussex Police – take place over the coming weeks.
A major study of car journeys at various sites in and around Littlehampton is to be held in September and October 2013.
Where time allows motorists will be stopped by Sussex Police and asked a series of questions which will last no longer than two minutes.
Where traffic is busy drivers will be given a questionnaire to fill in and post back within two weeks.
The surveys are being carried out in connection with a County Council study to support the proposed Lyminster Bypass scheme and to plan improvements to the A259 corridor in Littlehampton.
Pieter Montyn, County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “The surveys will provide vital data on travel patterns for the Littlehampton area.
“This will help us plan future improvements to roads and transport in this area for years to come
“We will be working with the police to minimise disruption and delay.”
He added: “We hope people are patient and that they agree to take part.”
Every effort will be made to minimise disruption but some queuing on the approaches to survey sites will be inevitable at busy times.
