Focus turns to cricket, tables and allotments in Arundel

More than £7,300 of funding has been awarded to good causes in the Downland Arun area.

Three local community projects received funding at the latest Joint Downland Area Committee meeting – which covers Arundel and the surrounding villages, The Six Villages and Findon.

The three organisations to receive Community Initiative Funding were:

• Aldingbourne Allotment Association – £2,361 for providing storage for a community garden and relaxation area

• Arundel Cricket Club – £2,500 to replace the existing sight screens

• Barnham Community Centre Charitable Trust – £2,441.72 for the purchase of several smaller tables for the Community Hall

With a total of just under £20,000 of funding available in 2016/17, community groups and small local charities are being encouraged to apply for the next round of funding.

New applications need to be submitted by 26 August to the Joint Downland Area Committee.

They will be considered at the next meeting on 26 September 2016 at 7pm at The White Swan Hotel, in
Arundel.
