Half Term Holiday Brings Annie to Eastbourne

WC Fields famously said “never work with children or animals”. Well, he obviously never saw the feel good musical Annie, which comes to the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne from Wednesday 26th to Sunday 30th October, and provides the perfect half term treat for all the family.

The Adult and Youth Community Companies of the Royal Hippodrome Community Theatre are working together to stage this family favourite musical, guaranteed to set your toes tapping and to bring a smile to your face.

Featuring a talented cast of youngsters, adults, and a dog, many of whom have appeared in professional theatre in the UK and overseas, the musical is set in 1930’s New York during The Great Depression, where brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery, suffering and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.

Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search.

The search for children to play the orphans began earlier this year when a total of 83 girls from across East Sussex attended open auditions for the roles. Following those auditions it has been revealed that Annie is to be played by 10 year old Katie Hillyer and her fellow orphans will be made up of 14 of the other auditioned girls, aged from 6 to 17.

To make sure that you don’t miss out on this fabulous family musical, book your tickets now – don’t leave it til “Tomorrow“!

Tickets to see Annie at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre from October 26th – 30th (Adult £15, Child £10, Family Ticket – 2 adults and 2 children -£40) can be purchased online at www.royalhippodrome.com, on 01323 802020 or in person at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre box office.
