Hide The Rollerskates – Frank Spencer’s Back!

The Devonshire Park Theatre team have stocked up on carpet cleaner in case the cat does a whoopsie, there’s a bloke in a trench coat wearing a black beret and the battle-axe of all Mother-in-Laws is on the war path; which can mean only one thing – Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em, the classic 1970’s sitcom, has finally come to the stage and is heading to Eastbourne this April starring comedy legend Joe Pasquale with Susie Blake (Coronation Street, The Victoria Wood Show, Blithe Spirit), as his disapproving Mother-in-Law, and Sarah Earnshaw as his long suffering wife Betty.

Brace yourselves as the accident prone Frank Spencer is back – men carrying ladders and pots of paint beware, there’s the potential for a lot of mischief and misunderstandings! Long suffering wife Betty has exciting news for Frank, but he’s preoccupied by possible newfound fame as a magician. With guests arriving for dinner and crossed wires all round, priceless misinterpretations are on the menu.

Joe Pasquale, who stars as Frank Spencer, is a veritable national comedy treasure and household name. He exploded onto our screens in New Faces during the 1970’s and went on to win I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and host The Price is Right. He has delighted audiences with his live stand-up tours for over 20 years and made his theatrical debut in 1999 in The Nerd which prompted Time Out to describe his performance as “rib shatteringly funny”. He went on to appear in touring productions of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Producers and in the West End production of Spamalot in the starring role of King Arthur.

Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em written and directed by the award-winning Guy Unsworth and based on the TV Series by Raymond Allen, is at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne from Tuesday 17th – Saturday 21st April with nightly performances at 7.45pm and Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.
