This past year, Covid19 has given people that chance to stop, rethink their life and change direction. Maybe you thought you want more out of life? Or you want to spend more time with your family? Maybe you don’t want to work as much as you did, or just want to do something that makes you happy!
Let’s talk about beauty. With everyone stripped bare of their nails, lashes and brows over the past year, salons are now heaving with women and men wanting to feel pampered and confident again. With mask life, even more than before Covid19, it’s all about the eyes and having beautiful nails. While mask life will hopefully slowly disappear, beauty will not, and I truly believe it’s going to be an even bigger industry than ever before.
Why is this the perfect time to join the beauty industry?
Beauty isn’t like years ago where you had to go to college for years to gain your qualification. You can now do fast training courses in individual treatments and many are now one day courses, which means it’s all in the practise afterwards to perfect your skills and start building up a client base.
How well does this career work for mums?
If you’re a new mummy or a stay-at-home mum, this is such a lovely career to join and fit around your family. You can train quickly in whatever treatment it is you want to learn, lash extensions, brow lamination, lash lift, nails, and then start offering treatments within school hours or in the evenings when the children are asleep. It’s a perfect side hustle or new business and time out to do something for you.
If you’re in a job now and looking to change careers or do something on the side, this is also perfect for you. Doing a one-day course on a weekend and offering treatments around your daily job can create a nice little income. Beauty treatments can be highly profitable and are such a pleasure to do.
We all know having a beauty treatment or our hair done makes us feel so much better and going to visit our local salon or beauty therapist is a must-have, non-negotiable in our diaries. Actually performing these treatments, seeing the transformations and knowing you are putting a smile on someone’s face is the best feeling.
Why is having multiple incomes important?
It was so hard for many of us over lockdown with our income stopping and little support to fall back on. Creating that second stream of income or even third or fourth can give you a back up and put your mind at rest. It’s always great to have something on the side that you enjoy that could potentially become a full-time job or business. Even outside the pandemic a multiple income can help to create the lifestyle you want. That can be a savings pot for holidays, a home, your child’s education. Doing something on the side should also be something that you love doing, so it doesn’t feel like you’re working all the time. It’s something that you look forward to doing and know that you’re getting paid for it.
If you had multiple incomes or a side hustle or wanted to create something alongside being a mum, or another job, what would you do with that extra income?
