Local charity, Carers Support West Sussex appoints a Carer Services Director.

West Sussex based charity is excited to announce the appointment of Caroline Pope into the new position of Carer Services Director.

During this unsettling time since the COVID-19 outbreak, local charity, Carers Support West Sussex, are maintaining a level of business as usual by on boarding Caroline Pope on the 6th April.

The charity provides over 25,000 unpaid carers living in West Sussex with information and guidance along with practical and emotional support, so they feel valued and supported.

Due to recent events, Carers Support West Sussex had to make the difficult decision to suspend all face to face meetings in steps to protect the wellbeing of carers, the person being cared for, volunteers, staff and the wider community. The charity’s stoic stance resulted in reinventing itself by delivering peer to peer support, using a combination of phone and online methods, so carers are still able to receive the invaluable support needed in our local community.

Caroline brings with her over 12 years’ service at Carer’s First, leaving as Acting CEO, holding a wealth of experience to offer in terms of working on complex tenders, contract reporting and outcome & impact measurements.

Caroline said of the charity “I am excited to be joining Carer Support West Sussex, even though my joining is at such a challenging time for everyone. I am confident that with such a great team to help me to understand the Charity, it’s Carers and it’s staff, I will quickly be able to bring my experience of Carers Services to add strength to this valuable Charity.”

Sonia Mangan, Chief Executive of Carers Support welcomes Caroline on board and says:
“We are at a critical time in the support of carers in our local community. So, we are delighted to appoint Caroline with her breadth of skills and experience so she will hit the ground running. I am very much looking forward to working together with Caroline on the delivery of excellent service and support to the carers of West Sussex. One of the many major projects we will be working on is the imminent strategy refresh of Carers Support West Sussex, I see Caroline playing a pivotal role in this evolution”
