New Creative Courses in The Loft

The Hawth’s new arts space The Loft has three very exciting courses lined up this Autumn, all offering free taster sessions. Situated in the upper foyer The Loft is a large, bright and welcoming studio space, perfect as a haven for the arts.

The Singer/Songwriting Masterclass will be aimed at new and emerging artists, who are wanting to gain confidence, improve their techniques and showcase original compositions to a live audience. Mentored by experienced musicians, this is an opportunity to discuss writing processes, share ideas and create great music. There will also be pre-show workshops and gig nights, where you can perform in front of an audience. Local radio stations will be recording the gig nights and feature highlights during their weekly shows.  All songwriters and musicians, whatever the genre, are welcome to join.
The free launch night will be held on Monday 24 October, 8pm – 10.15pm and the course will run every Monday from 31 October – 19 December.

Everyone loves a story, and most of us have one to tell. But it’s putting pen to paper that’s the challenge. Alison Carter, author of more than 350 published stories and serials and an experienced teacher of writing will run a Creative Writing Class every Tuesday from 1 November to 6 December with a free taster session on Tuesday 25 October, 11am – 3pm. The six week course following the taster offers two busy and enjoyable hours a week learning how to master great writing.

Every Wednesday from 2 November – 7 December, there will be a Life Drawing Class held in The Loft led by Rachel Cowell of Ginger Moo with a free taster session on Wednesday 26 October, 10am – 12noon.  Ginger Moo offer a new, fresh and personal approach to art. These will be informal classes, open to all abilities and will concentrate on the art of drawing the human form. A great way to learn and improve skills in a bright and comfortable setting.
