Your monthly columnist The Psychy Poet Laurie Wilkinson has had another success, winning a Writers Group poetry first prize!
My poem “Humpty Dumpty Revisited” which will be in my forthcoming 7th book, was judged to be the best entry in the poetry section of an Eastbourne Writers group, and quite an achievement I feel, as I’m still only five years old as a published poet. I have though, also had three of my poems read out on National Radio that broadcasts internationally too.
Success is always good, but mainly endorses the work, or poetry, of the winner who in this case already has six published books of poetry that all donate to the excellent charity Help for Heroes.
The seventh book is following later this year and currently all books are reduced to “make room” for the new edition. Initial prices and contacts are at the end of this celebration offering.
As The Psychy Poet I am increasingly busy doing my poetry presentations for events, social groups, and talks, having fundraising stalls and promotional events, writing personal poems for people alongside my usual prolific poetry writing. Of course I can be booked and commissioned for all of these activities, which again further donate to Help for Heroes who look after our wounded service personnel.
