It’s a top 10! New West Sussex digital walks

From Shimmings Valley to Balcombe and Pagham to Steyning – discover our wonderful West Sussex with 10 new specially mapped digital walks this autumn.

Developed by iFootpath, a digital walking guide business, the 10 walks are mapped via GPS and are available on the West Sussex Weekends website at www.west-sussex-weekends.com.

Taking in coast and countryside across the county, each walk can be followed in real time by downloading the iFootpath app, or as a PDF.
To make it more personal, each of the walks has its own storyteller who gives a personal insight into the route and their experience of it.
It’s the second batch of walks produced by iFootpath and really gives a flavour of all that West Sussex has to offer – meaning there are now 20 available to choose from on the West Sussex Weekends website.

Leader of West Sussex County Council Louise Goldsmith said: “Although the school term has just begun many families are already looking at what to do for half-term. These 10 walks are well worth a look – they are of different lengths and there’s something for all level of walker, not to mention a great day out in West Sussex.

“And best of all, walking in our wonderful West Sussex coast and countryside is free to do! We’re blessed with some of the most beautiful landscapes, all on our doorstep but how many of us take the time to explore it all? With these walks you’re taken on a step-by-step route.”
The walks cover many parts of West Sussex including: Littlehampton and Climping, West Chiltington and Nutbourne, Petworth and Shimmings Valley, Balcombe and Ardingly Reservoir, Steyning and Chanctonbury.

They also show you places to stop off and enjoy refreshments en-route, many of them using local produce.

Walkers can print the maps as a PDF for free or download the iFootpath App, for Apple and Android devices, for a one-off price of £1.49.
The West Sussex Weekends website was launched last year as part of the Beautiful Outdoors campaign, to help boost tourism in West Sussex and to support the local economy. As well as the walks, the website offers ways to plan your visit, activities and food and drink.
