The Yorkshire Dales come to the Eastbourne Stage

The Devonshire Park Theatre will be transformed into the picturesque North Yorkshire Dales and the cosy warm rustic farmhouse kitchens and stone barns of yesteryear as a stunning new stage adaptation of All Creatures Great and Small comes to Eastbourne’s favourite playhouse from 14th – 19th July, featuring a stellar cast.

Coronation Street’s Oliver Mellor stars as the newly qualified vet James Herriot, who has to face tough critics from his potential new employer, played by Mark Curry, to disgruntled local farmers and his prospective wife (played by 2.4 Children’s, Clare Buckfield).

All Creatures Great and Small is based on the books of real life vet Alf Wight and his semi-autobiographical anecdotes of James Herriot which sold millions world-wide and led to two films and a long-running and beloved BBC TV series.

In this new stage adaptation we follow James as he risks life and limb to save a herd of prize cattle or poisoned pigs and, with them, the livelihoods of the practice’s eccentric clientele, before enjoying a well-earned pint in the Drovers Arms. Leaving his city ways behind him, he wins the heart of this colourful community and journeys into manhood.

Lee Latchford-Evans, of multi-million selling pop sensation Steps, stars as the delightfully roguish Tristan Farnon, with Rob Maloney, Michael Palmer and Harriett Hare completing the cast.

All the life, humour and humanity of this British institution can be re-lived, when All Creatures Great and Small appears at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne from Monday 14th to Saturday 19th July, nightly performances at 7.45pm and Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.

This is the final week of the critically acclaimed tour and the last chance to catch this heart-warming production. Tickets priced at £14.50 – £22 are available from the box office on 01323 412000 or online www.eastbournetheatres.co.uk.
