Hastings Castle is calling all dragon slayers to help defend its grounds on Saturday May 13th.
The West Hill tourist attraction is hosting a fun-filled Dragon Day, with a special appearance from huge animatronic dragon ‘Flame’.
The event, which runs from 10am until 4pm, will also include performances by local drummers ‘Samba Lanco’ and Morris dancing, as well as trails and activities.
Guests will be invited to ‘Tame Flame’, a four meter smoke breathing dragon who will be active throughout the day for 25 minute timeslots, then available for photo opportunities in between.
When Flame is resting, Bunsen the Dragon will be out and about in the grounds – but organisers say he does have a tendency to bite!
Between 12pm and 3pm local drummers Samba Lanco will be performing Brazilian carnival rhythms with a Hastings twist.
At 11am local Morris dancers Hannah’s Cat Morris, who dance Cotswold Morris, will be putting on a 20 minute performance.
Children will also be able to have a go at ‘slaying’ dragon pinatas, enjoy arts and crafts and take part in a trail to save the town’s folk from the dragon!
There will also be certificates awarded for those who help to save the Castle from the attack.
Hastings Castle’s sales and marketing executive, Leanna Lawson, said: “Dragon Day is going to be a lot of fun for our guests and we can’t wait to see their reactions when Flame appears.
“The performances by the drummers and Morris dancers are going to give the Castle such a great atmosphere during this exciting event.”
The event is included in the Castle’s standard admission prices which can be found at www.smugglersadventure.co.uk.
Guests are warned the event will be rescheduled in the event of bad weather, in this case updates will be posted on the Castle website above.
