Motorline Acquires Crawley Factory Site

The Motorline Group has announced the acquisition of a 65,000 sq ft former pasta factory in Crawley, West Sussex, as part of the company’s continued expansion across the South East of England.

The Kent-based motor group already operates three sites in Crawley with Volkswagen, Nissan and Toyota dealerships within half a mile radius. Motorline’s acquisition of the 3.2 acre site on Fleming Way provides a new business development opportunity, potential employment for up to 100 staff and underlines the commitment to future development in the Crawley area.

“We have created strong growth momentum across the group over the last five years and are looking to build on this in 2015,” said Glen Obee, Motorline chairman. “We will be looking to invest around £11 million to refurbish the former pasta factory and make it a valued part of our growing motor business.”

He added: “It is an exciting acquisition that marks the continuation of our long term growth strategy and on-going investment in the improvement and expansion of our property, facilities and infrastructure.”

Founded in 1972, the Motorline Group represents 10 car brands with thirty five businesses across the south of England and South Wales. In the last 18 months the company has opened a number of new dealerships and has also refurbished many existing showrooms and is now looking to expand its business offering further with the acquisition and redevelopment of the former food manufacturing facility.
