Brighton and Hove is the spiciest place in East Sussex

Analysis of millions of takeaway orders across the country shows where has the hottest palates when it comes to spicy food, crowning Brighton and Hove as one of the hottest places in East Sussex.

From korma to vindaloo and all things spicy, Just Eat has created an interactive heat map that lets you compare towns all over the UK and drill down to see the hottest location near you.

In East Sussex, the spiciest town is Brighton and Hove with 14.21% of orders containing at least one chilli symbol, the rating guide used by restaurants to indicate heat levels of a dish.

The top 10 bravest, and perhaps wildest, places across the rest of the UK for ordering chilli infused dishes are:

  1. Mid Ulster
  2. Newry Mourne and Down
  3. Stockport
  4. Brentwood
  5. Redbridge
  6. Haringey
  7. Weymouth and Portland
  8. Chiltern
  9. Solihull
  10. Aberdeen City

The data was gathered by analysing over 30 million orders that contained at least one chilli symbol, the heat rating used by restaurants on Just Eat. To adjust for population size, the data was then processed per capita to understand the true density of spicy dishes per location.

Is your town one of the spiciest in the UK? Play with the Just Eat interactive heat map to find out more.
