David Brent & Foregone Conclusion to appear in Brighton

After tickets for David Brent’s first ever live gigs sold out in under 15 seconds at the end of 2013, fans will be pleased to hear that the Ricky Gervais character will be back on stage performing tracks from the album Life On The Road, the debut album by David Brent & Foregone Conclusion, with an appearance at the Brighton Centre in December.

The general manager of Slough’s fictional paper company Wernham–Hogg, David Brent is a character invented by Ricky Gervais as the star of BBC Two comedy The Office. Always a part time musician with big aspirations, Brent made his live debut with three shows at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre and followed that up with the album which was released in conjunction with the original motion picture David Brent: Life On The Road.

The new album – including titles such as Native Americans and Lady Gypsy – soundtracks the film charting Brent’s last-ditch attempt to make it as a pop star. “He’s trying to change stuff,” Gervais recently joked on The Graham Norton Show. “He rents musicians and venues with his cashed in pensions and overtime money, all in the hope of getting signed. He’s a man out of time. It’s funny, but it’s quite sad as well…”

Nevertheless, Gervais is certainly enjoying the excuse for a sing-song: “I’m a frustrated, failed musician, so it’s great because I’ve got a get-out clause – it’s sort of ironic, but it’s still so much fun playing with a rock band – and they’re really brilliant.”

David Brent & Foregone Conclusion will be playing just two live shows in December with one at the Bournemouth International Centre on Thursday 15th December 2016 and the other at the Brighton Centre on Friday 16th December 2016. Tickets for the Brighton date go on sale on Saturday 8th October at 10am, priced at £30, and can be booked through the box office on 0844 847 1515 or online at www.brightoncentre.co.uk.
