Fracking Financial Flop

Just think thousands and possibly millions of pounds have been spent on security at Fracking sites all over the United Kingdom and yet when it comes to something really important, for instance honouring the fallen in two World Wars and all wars since, the police have not got the manpower to assist.  Just wonderful this Prime Minister who has cut the budget for the Police and supports Fracking when there are so many other important things that need policing.

We heard of the incident that happened in Westham, East Sussex of the 4X4 driver who ran over a cygnet and laughed while he was doing it and now how a 4X4 team policed a memorial service that hitherto would have been cancelled because of lack of presence by the police.  Just goes to show that not all are tarred with the same brush.

How can EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL consider themselves to have five, four, three, two or even one star for service when they allow a person to die of asbestos.  Allow the roads to get into such a state.  Place a bus route in such roads as Grove Road, South Street and Lushington Road.  What is the Bus Company going to do when someone moves house and have a couple of Removal Vans?  They can’t blow their horns and demand them to move.  Of course we know how the Bus Company sort out their routes; they use a motorbike with a sidecar.

There has been a change in the people who run East Sussex County Council and it is unfortunate for them to have inherited policies that had been passed by the former members of the council, it is going to be a hard climb for them to oppose such ridiculous ideas that have been placed and voted on.  I spoke to a person many years ago about the traffic in Eastbourne and he stated that it was the Council’s intention to make it and as he put it “a slow moving traffic town.”  They have succeeded in doing that: bus stops that intrude on the traffic flow along Seaside Road isn’t a clever idea.  People have to get to work and try to park in a town riddled with parking meters and traffic wardens, not ideal conditions to have to face on any day of the week – of course the people who make these decisions do not have parking problems as there is FREE PARKING for them at their place of work.

I was fortunate or not as the case may be to have had a letter from one such Councillor who was once a member of the East Sussex County Council which I had placed on my office wall as a reminder of the ridiculous hot waffle that can and does come out of the mind of such a person.  I can only think that he must really have believed what he stated was true, but that was his opinion and I am at liberty to state what I think as it is still a FREE COUNTRY, or so I am led to believe.  If I state that he was the originator of the parking restrictions we all face in Eastbourne that should give you a 100% clue to with whom I exchanged letters.  I have since taken down the letter that consisted of three pages of hot waffle as my wallpaper shows more interesting factors and telling me it needs a new coat of paint.

Equal opportunities do not happen in this day and age, especially if you are not recognised by national standards as I was informed by a spokesperson for a well known book retailer.  Still it is nice to know they have declared it and are biased to the up and coming new authors.

Just think only 26 votes short of cutting the Bedroom Tax – obviously doomed as the Government do not want to lose face by making a U TURN in one of their policies…..and on the other side of the coin – I am aghast to learn that a foreign Criminal (and it is nice to know that they recognise the fact that he is a criminal for sex offences against a schoolgirl) gets awarded an undisclosed amount for breach of his human rights after the Court of Appeal ruling that he was held in custody too long….. another loophole?  Is the world mad – what about the victim?  It seems to be a world of “Pay! Pay! & Pay!”  Just like the board game Monopoly – if you pass “GO” – you either land on the double tax square or go to prison!  Prison might be a good thing – at least you get compensated if held too long!

It is predicted 2013-2014 will be the worst winter and yet the callous Electric and Gas Companies know when to add that little extra percentage to every ones purse strings that are tightly pulled together as a result of the percentage they added last winter.  Why can’t companies be a little more sympathetic and thoughtful and why do they need to hand out more misery every year?  You get the usual waffle of how companies need to expand and to improve, but we never seem to see any of the improvements.  The gas still comes through the same pipe as it did last year and the year before and ad infinitum.  The electricity comes through the same route as well.

Mind you!  I think the Electricity and Gas Companies are in the same boat as we mortals who try to live normally, because their hands are tied because of Government legislation predicts that in the next 17 years the powers that are  at present are hoisting up percentages for the next seventeen years.  With any luck and the NHS being in such a mess – I shan’t be here!

The only thing I have noticed is that the street lighting has been changed to a permanent dim to save money and to help would-be-burglars.  With the street lighting as it is today, I would not dare to go out at night on my own, it is too dangerous.

When you sit back and reflect on the state of the world and why so many men and women perished in two world wars and all the other wars in between – they believed in giving their lives, so that we, who are left to look after this planet, would all be free and things would get better, that was the theory.

But it is nice to know that the “Unknown Warriors” are still remembered today.
