Literary feast at Chichester Library

If you love books or want to publish your own, there are several upcoming events at Chichester Library to interest you.

CHINDI Self-Publishing; 23 June; Four local authors host an interactive workshop where they will discuss their experiences as well as lessons learnt the hard way.The event will cover editing, proof-reading, cover design and marketing initiatives that sell books.

An Evening with Peter Lovesey; 29 June; Celebrated crime writer Peter Lovesey hosts a talk about his latest novel Down Among the Dead Men, which is set in and around Chichester and features Detective Peter Diamond.
Superintendent Peter Diamond is a warm, witty and wonderful creation by one of England’s most talented crime writers- Dorris R Meredith (New York Journal). Peter Lovesey is the winner of the prestigious Cartier Diamond Dagger Award for Crime Writing.

Ladies Night In;  30 June;  Authors Jill Mansell and Harriet Evans will be having a ‘Ladies Night In’ at the Library.
Sunday Times bestseller Harriet Evans will be talking about her emotionally-charged novel, A Place for Us. The book begins with the matriarch of the Winter family, Martha, sitting down at the breakfast table one morning to write out invitations to all of her family, calling them back from around the world to a family reunion, where she will reveal a long hidden secret.
Harriet will be joined by bestselling author Jill Mansell, whose new novel Three Amazing Things About You deals with a young woman whose time is running out.

An Evening with Pippa Greenwood; 7 July; One of Britain’s favourite gardeners will discuss some of her favourite crops and give plenty of tips on how to have a great growing year – including telling the slugs who is boss!
Pippa Greenwood is a leading light in the world of horticulture. She was a presenter on BBC Two’s Gardener’s World for over 13 years and was the gardening consultant for TV show Rosemary and Thyme. She is a regular panellist and bug expert on Radio 4’s Gardener’s Question Time, has written a number of award winning books and contributes to BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine.

Blood Royal ; 9 July; Historical authors Vanora Bennett, Elizabeth Fremantle and Robyn Young will discuss the most brutal periods in history to determine whether royal blood is a blessing or a curse.
Vanora Bennett began as a journalist and served as Moscow correspondent for the Los Angeles Times and won the Orwell Prize for political writing. She is the author of six novels.

Elizabeth Fremantle has contributed to such titles as Vogue, The Sunday Times, The Wall Street Journal and Elle. Her fascination with early modern culture and writing led her to her debut historical trilogy.
Robyn Young has worked as a festival organiser, music promoter and financial advisor. Her first published novel, Brethren, went straight into the Sunday Times top ten, becoming the bestselling hardback debut of the year. In 2007, Robyn was named one of Waterstone’s 25 authors of the future.
