Movement is a Healer

pilates healing movement

I am a firm believer in the power of movement and its ability to heal our bodies, not just on a physical level but on an emotional level too. As a Pilates teacher I often observe this in my clients. A seemingly simple adjustment or movement not only completely changes how an exercise feels, but also triggers an emotional response or release.

The body stores emotional trauma

There is scientifically backed research which proves that emotional trauma is carried through the body within the connective tissue or Fascia. Simply put, Fascia surrounds, protects, and supports the body’s physical structure, muscles, organs etc. Brain to body communication also occurs in Fascia. If there is a blockage in the Fascia it can lead to emotional or physical pain. I have witnessed, and experienced movement healing on both a physical and emotional level.

This has led me to further research and study. Pilates and other forms of mindful movement shifts the blockages in the Fascia. Energy healing focuses on identifying the emotional route cause to the physical symptoms then dissolving it energetically. By combining my knowledge and experience of Pilates, anatomy, and energy healing I have gained a deeper understanding of my clients needs.

‘The root cause to all physical symptoms, pain and disease is emotional trauma’ This is the theory behind the Energy Healing work as developed by Antonia Harman, founder of Divine Empowerment.

When we are experiencing physical discomfort or pain it will most likely be our body talking to us, letting us know that there is something in our life that we to look at and most likely change.

How to translate what your body is saying

Discomfort or pain in areas of the body will relate to different emotions and life situations, for example…

  • Back pain (general) means that you are not feeling supported, there are issues around responsibility or stability.
  • Lower back, financial responsibilities or feeling under pressure.
  • Middle back, feeling responsible for others, controlled or humiliated.
  • Shoulder pain is related to feeling burdened or guilty about having fun.
  • Hip pain can indicate that you need to find balance moving forward, relationship problems or sexuality.

We all have the power within us to heal ourselves. We just need a little insight, guidance, and trust that we can.

So next time you are feeling a little out of sorts, or suddenly have an ache or discomfort for no reason, stop and pay attention. Go for a walk, dance, do Pilates or yoga and notice if any physical or emotional changes occur as a result.

To recap, through exercise and movement we can release emotional blockages that have built up and are stuck in the Fascia. Energy healing helps us to process and dissolve the emotional trauma. The combination of both can bring us back into balance and restore our equilibrium.

What a great piece Karen! Dramatic healing really is possible with a little knowledge and a little magic. Bottled up emotions go somewhere. You may explode at a small thing? Or you may create a dis-ease. Learn to manage stress, and if you need an emotional purge book in for a session with Karen.
