I was born in Seattle, Washington in the United States. I graduated from high school as valedictorian, progressing to college, where I earned a teacher’s degree with honors. My certification was completed at the University of Washington. I taught school from kindergarten through college, for thirty years. I now write internationally, speak at adult programs, and on Youtube, and am an international consultant for domestic violence. In addition, I am internationally board certified to do regression therapy, a hypnotist, ordained for spiritual counseling, and a physic/medium.
The twist in my life is that I read an article in the newspaper early in my marriage that said writing is rewriting and rewriting. Since my poorest grades were two B’s in English classes, I believed that I was not cut out to be a writer. In those days, it was not fun to replace the page and retype it in a typewriter. After my divorce, I purchased my first Brother Word Processor and later I graduated to a real computer.
My first writing began in the early 1980’s as a writer and editor for “Poor Richard’s Newsletter” for a printing business. My first experience as a guest columnist was for my local paper. I graduated from the Long Ridge Writers Group and joined a neighboring writers club. Winning their international writing contest, with my story, “All Time Victim”, I was spurred on to keep writing. My first articles and poems appeared in a Spanish magazine, First Word Bulletin.
I received my first writing award for poetry as a Golden Poet in New York, City, New York. This is where I heard about Barnaby Conrad‘s “Santa Barbara Writers Conference”. For the next seven years, I heard every keynote address by Ray Bradbury. Other famous people who spoke were Charles Schultz of Snoopy fame and Fannie Flag, author of “Fried Green Tomatoes”. Other celebrated people who spoke were Judy Lewis the daughter of Loretta Young the movie star, Adrianna Huffington who now owns a newspaper, and Frankie Lane the singer. The laughter was loud in our class for comedy writing with Jonathan Winter, the comedian.
After my trip to Australia, I began painting because my experiences snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef were so vivid. My art is available on my website. I now specialize in portraits including people, pets, and your angels. Fortunately, my writing teacher was willing to publish my book of poetry, Roses Have Thorns, Encouragement from evolving from pain to joy, that tells the victory in my life and includes my art. She said it belonged in every therapist’s waiting room. My eBooks offer spiritual answers to life’s problems.
The Northwest Writers Conference honored me by asking me to be a judge for several Short Story Contests. Being asked to speak to the writers group in Cairo, Egypt was a thrill. My story for that trip was published with a picture of me riding a camel.
The Book of Success, Success Uncovered, and Walking Your Life, are my most recent anthologies written last year. My current book, Paradigm Busters, Reveal the Real You”, is the ultimate “how to” book with a systematic guide for enhancing your life.
