Old Macdonald and His Farm on the Worthing Stage.

A new nursery rhyme adventure featuring Old Macdonald, a Russian scientist and a host of cuddly farmyard creatures brings the traditional children’s story to life on Worthing’s Connaught Theatre stage for an Easter holiday children’s treat on April 11 at 2.30pm.

The People’s Theatre Company which is known for its previous productions designed for children age four and over, such as There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, How the Koala Learnt to Hug and The Elephant Bridesmaid,  has used the much-loved story Old MacDonald had a Farm as the inspiration for their latest show.

The show, which runs for 70 minutes with no interval, includes live action, puppetry, animation and traditional children’s songs such as Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush, She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain, Polly Put the Kettle on and the show’s namesake Old Macdonald Had a Farm.

The audience is invited to join in the fun as they help Old MacDonald find his missing animals. A strange, hooded figure is suspected of the crime but the famous farmer needs help to discover the identity of the mystery villain and why he might have stolen the animals. A friendly Russian scientist appears with a time-machine which might save the day. Only the scientist and his machine can help the farmyard hero piece the clues together so the animals aren’t lost forever.

Artistic director Steven Lee says: “Our show takes the very best elements of the well known story and presents them in a new and exciting way so there is all the farmyard fun you would expect but also lots of our trademark humour, music and interaction.”

Old Macdonald Had a Farm appears at the Connaught Theatre, Union Place, Worthing. BN11 1LG on Friday April 11th at 2.30pm Tickets, priced at £10, family of four £36, can be purchased from the box office on 01903 206 206 or online at www.worthingtheatres.co.uk
