The West End Comes to Eastbourne This Spring

The Congress Theatre, Eastbourne is hosting three smash hit West End musicals this spring as Singin’ in the Rain, Fiddler on the Roof and Cats all take to the stage in turn.

The Olivier award winning Chichester Festival Theatre production of Singin’ in the Rain will bring tinsel town glamour to the seaside town from 8th – 19th April starring Maxwell Caulfield (best known from Emmerdale, Casualty, Dynasty and film Grease2) as studio boss R.F.Simpson and Vicky Binns (Molly Dobbs in Coronation Street) as vocally challenged Lina Lamont. As the talkies arrive in Hollywood will silent movie star Don Lockwood and starlet Lina make the transition and will chorus girl Kathy Selden fulfil her dream of stardom and capture Don’s heart along the way?

A new production of the Broadway classic Fiddler on the Roof starring Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky in the iconic 70’s TV series Starsky and Hutch) plays from 6th – 10th May. Directed and Choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood this version epically captures all the emotions of laughter and joy to tears and sadness. Join Tevye, the local village milkman as his staunch traditions are challenged when his daughters wish to marry for love instead of Matchmaking. Tevye must convince the villagers their decisions are actually falling in with tradition – if anyone can do it, Tevye can!

Adapted from poems by TS Eliot Cats, one of the longest running shows in West End and Broadway history, returns from 20th – 31st May. On just one special night of the year, all Jellicle cats meet at the Jellicle Ball where Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, makes the Jellicle choice and announces which of them will go up to the heaviside layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life. Music, dance and verse fuse together in an enchanting blend of fantasy, drama and romance.
