If the Tower of London’s carpet of red poppies symbolises a death of many in the First World War and all the poppies that have been made for all those that have perished in the Second World War and all the subsequent Wars that have followed that we have won – why is it that this FREEDOM that should be ours that all Governments talk about is still as elusive as ever. On the home front things have worsened and progress is to blame. The working week has lengthened to include Saturday and Sunday. Some people have to work at night as well as day time. Money tends to be in short supply to the honest person and the rich get richer!

D.C. Head of this Government wants Doctors to work a seven day week, yet they that govern find it very hard to work a five day week if live television is anything to go by when sitting to discuss important issues. Half of them are missing and the rest are fast asleep. It is a known factor that doctors already work very hard for the care of their patients. They have to be awake to do their job properly, working a seven day week will not help anyone, especially those persons who are critically ill. Doctors have to attend out of hours visits to people’s homes and each practice has a doctor on stand-by for emergencies which I think is enough bearing in mind that there are several practices in Eastbourne and the surrounding districts. When a doctor had to visit me out of hours, after I had an operation at Eastbourne DGH, he was from another practice. I still had 100% care and attention, but he might not have been 100% alert had the ruling been in force then, after working his long day at the surgery and working a seven day week as well.
I’ll Tell You A Story….!
I heard a terrible story about EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL’S efficiency of saving money at the expense of one of our dear senior citizens who is a registered disabled person who has had her disabled payment withdrawn which started this year. Scrooge Councillors are probably rubbing their hands together at this saving and readers, how many of you are suffering from those same TIN GODS who have ruined people’s lives with their so-called governing? I am of the opinion that they couldn’t organise a “Piss-up in a Brewery.”
This same Senior Citizen is critically disabled, can’t drive and needs treatment and has to pay out of her own pocket for transport to Chaseley and back home for her treatment, whereas the payment she was receiving helped towards transport costs. As EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL “means tested” her disability in the first place, it does sound rather odd to rescind the payment. You have to ask yourself, are the people who are in charge have expert knowledge on how to cope with their own administration?
My wife who has painful arthritic feet had her “BLUE BADGE” rescinded this year even though she was “means tested” three years ago to receive one. I was pleased because I suffer with Multiple Sclerosis and it helped me on occasions when going into Eastbourne Town Centre. We don’t visit Eastbourne as much these days because having to park outside the parking zones. When I’m having to pay £35 every time I have treatment for MS – why should I have to pay £2 or £3 on top to the Council that have ruined Eastbourne?
People who are performing at Eastbourne Theatres are having to move their vehicles every two hours, so that means if you are part of the staff at your own production, not only do you have to move your vehicle, you have to pay another £2.00 blood money for the privilege. Why can’t EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL come up with a more sensible and fair parking tariff? I call it legalised blackmail. While we are on the subject of parking, two weeks ago I went to the Sunday Concert and the PARKING METER in the Congress Theatre Car Park was out of order. I had to walk from one end of the Car Park to the meter nearest the Theatre and back of course. It certainly didn’t do my MS any good. It was a wonderful ploy to get more money from those people who were willing to take a chance by not buying a ticket to park legally.
It was reported by EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL that roads that are still full of holes will not be repaired, although KINGS DRIVE towards the Eastbourne DG Hospital is having a new surface and holding up the traffic for hours in the middle of a “RUSH HOUR.” CLEVER!
