Worthing Museum extend opening times for the autumn season

This autumn Worthing Museum and Art Gallery will be extending their opening hours, which traditionally are 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday.

For the first time ever they will be opening their doors to the public on Thursday evenings, where the public are welcome to visit and explore the museum until 8.30pm, from September 28th to December 14th.

The museum will come to life with a series of talks presented each evening by archaeologist James Sainsbury, which are available to book in advance.

On the opening night the museum will be celebrating with a special launch that includes a sing and scene extract from local professional theatre company The Conn Artists, who will be performing a segment of their latest production ‘The Four Men’ which stages at the Connaught Theatre the following week. The show celebrates Edwardian Sussex at the turn of the century and one of its greatest authors Hilaire Belloc, and ties in with the museum’s exhibition ‘Inspired By The Downs’ which depicts landscapes of the Sussex downs from WMA’s fine art collection.

Gerry Connolly, Worthing Museum & Art Gallery Curator, says “We’re really excited to be welcoming the public into the museum for these extended hours, as people’s evenings start to get a bit darker and colder hopefully we’ll be able to brighten them up with the vibrant collections we have on display. James will also be presenting a series of fascinating and lively talks that are nearly sold out already so make sure you book tickets in advance to attend.”
