Think you know about West Sussex? Think again.

The latest edition of West Sussex Life 2017-2019 – which gives a statistical snapshot of daily life in our county – is out now and available online to residents, businesses and communities.

The free publication, which officially launched today (Monday 31 October), is a comprehensive research tool put together by West Sussex County Council.

It’s the go-to tool for anything you want to know about the county and is packed with easy-to-understand information relating to all aspects of daily life for residents and communities.

Information includes projected population figures residents’ changing use of social media, levels of poverty and deprivation across towns and villages, average house prices, the health of children and the population in general, educational attainment, obesity levels, and the growth of the local economy..

It’s used by West Sussex County Council to help shape services for the future because as well as covering information about the here and now, it also features projections.

County Council Leader, Louise Goldsmith, said: “We want to provide the very best services we can for our residents and communities and West Sussex Life is fundamental to us being able to do that. It not only gives us a snapshot of what life is like right now, but what our communities and our county will face in the future as well. So it’s a vital planning tool for us.

“We know it’s valued by many people and used extensively by our local government and health partners as well as our communities so I’m delighted this latest free edition is now out there for everyone to enjoy.”
West Sussex life 2017-2019 is divided into three core sections which reflect the County Council’s priority areas as highlighted in the West

Sussex Plan:
• Giving children the best start in life
• Championing and growing the West Sussex economy
• And, supporting people to remain independent and healthy in later life.
This year’s online edition will be accompanied by a data book allowing readers to personally explore the raw data and mapping found within the main edition.

Copies of West Sussex Life will be available in all local libraries by the end of November.
