3 ways to keep energised this Summer

I don’t know about you but as soon as the summer heat begins to hit the lethargy button automatically switches on!

This month I wanted to share 3 ways for you to keep you energised this Summer.

People are always asking me how I have so much energy! To which I reply I make my own energy. Our bodies are in a constant flux of change and when we have more awareness or are in flow with our bodies we begin to recognise that it is feeding back to us constantly.

The common problems when the Summer heat arrives are lack of sleep, irritability, lethargy, and also we tend to eat less so our bodies need great fuel to keep it functioning ready for all those summer sun vibes.

Here are my 3 tips for you to continue living a life fuelled by your soul this summer:

  1. Do you remember last month I was talking to you all about PYO fruit? (Missed it no problem check it out here) Well, now it’s time to use that fruit. Berries are full of antioxidants and low in carbs so they make a great snack. Whizz a mixture of berries in a smoothie maker or blender with a bit of water and then pop them in ice cube holders and into the freezer. When you are feeling parched take one out and enjoy not only a thirst quencher but also a delicious snack too. Great way to get the children off the sugary lollipops too!
  2. OK now, this is going to make you laugh. Suffer from swollen feet. Well, I do! And this is not something which has just happened as I turned 40. I remember at 25, teaching at Hilden Grange School in Tonbridge and having a rough time with hot swollen feet. So I used to get my bin and fill it with cold water and then teach my pupils with happy feet (cue: dancing penguins please…) I recommend also whilst your feet are cooling down, using this as revitalising time pick a fav book or magazine and take 10 minutes to chill out.
  3. Exercise – yes it is one of the best ways to release adrenaline into the body as I am sure you know. So early in the morning is the best time to pump the iron and get those endorphins naturally buzzing. Then I recommend a lush yoga pose before bed to get the blood calm; move your butt close to a wall and take your legs to rest up the wall, keep the knees slightly bent stay here for 3-5 minutes try doing it just before sleep to help you drift off nicely and effortlessly.

Finally, promise me, new friend, that you will rest and soak up those Sussex summer days that this Sussex girl in Spain loves so much.
